Kevin Faulkner has been appointed as the Chair of the Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Employer Group representing Banham Security. Kevin takes over from Pat Allen (former director of Abel Alarms) who was in the post for ten years, with Kevin sitting as Vice-Chair for the past six years. Pat is taking a well-deserved rest after steering the group in an exemplary way since its formation, firstly having a standard approved and then successfully going through the latest revision.
The FESS Employer Group has developed the Trailblazer Apprenticeship and ensures it remains current and fit for purpose. Kevin believes that the Group is best placed to undertake a role to improve standards of competency and give direction to the sector, and not just in relation to apprenticeships. There is a need to look at competency within all roles/levels in the fire and security sector.
As Chair, Kevin will be working with other leaders in the industry and the first task is to ensure the FESS Employer Group is representative of the sector and to set goals that will contribute to improving skills and standards.
