Meet the installer – Deane Sales

by Andy Clutton

Deane Sales is the Group Sales Director at Amthal Group. Areas of expertise for the St Albans company include life safety and security with certifications from NSI, UKAS and BAFE.

What would be a typical project for you?

At Amthal, we don’t have a ‘typical project.’ We get to work in many different working environments, catering to bespoke sector requirements.

This can range from partnering with Facility Managers trying to navigate the new hybrid-office working environment.  Together understand how we manage security and fire safety precautions, where seemingly simple questions such as ‘How many people are in the building today,” are more complex to answer.

In retail, we are partnering to maintain action against what has been described by high street stalwarts as a crime epidemic.  The latest figures suggest the value of retail theft was £7.9bn in 2023.

In education, property management, logistics and hospitality.  Each sector has its bespoke challenges when it comes to security and life safety.  Often, the vast choice of solutions available is overwhelming.  We have a duty of care as an industry and a responsibility to work with partners to carve the right design and security specifications.

Do you have any ‘go to’ technology/manufacturers?

Over the years, we’ve built strong relationships with key distributors and maintained long-term connections with manufacturers. We see these as loyal partnerships, where we both support each other in business, and we hope to continue this for the success of the whole supply chain.

Most recently we have become an approved Gallagher Security channel partner, to supply its extensive range of systems.  This complements our capability to offer the latest security technology, especially those that cater to remote and mobile monitoring needs.

Our partners also align with Texecom for intruder and Salto, Paxton and BPT for access control.  We embrace Avigilon and Dahua Technology for CCTV.  Again, choosing partners is very much based on the bespoke requirements for the project.

We’re also excited about our partnership with the Honeywell Gent Network, giving us exclusive access to their fire detection systems. Each one is held to the highest standards, ensuring high-performance fire detection and alarm solutions.

What is the best thing about working in this industry?

The best thing about working in the security industry, from Amthal’s perspective, is the opportunity to make a tangible impact on people’s safety and well-being. It may be ‘back to basics’ but knowing that our efforts contribute to creating secure environments for businesses, schools, and public spaces is incredibly rewarding.

We take pride in providing innovative solutions that help our clients feel safer, fitting today’s mobile lifestyle and offering total protection.

The constant evolution of technology in our industry also adds an exciting dimension to our work. Staying at the forefront of technological advancements allows us to offer innovative security solutions.

Embracing and integrating the latest technologies, such as smart systems, cloud-enabled monitoring, and advanced access control, ensures we always deliver the most effective and efficient security measures.

Is NSI certification beneficial to you?

Yes, that is the short answer!

We are very proud to have recently become NSI Gold accredited.  We believe this is a testament to our commitment to excellence, integrity and the highest standards in security services.

To us and our customers, we believe it has shown how Amthal has met the stringent criteria for quality management, technical expertise, and customer service.

And from the feedback we received announcing the accreditation, it has shown our commitment to our industry and the guaranteed compliance we can deliver with advanced, reliable and latest security solutions.
