Altia announces Badger Software acquisition

by Andy Clutton

Altia has acquired Badger Software, a supplier of software for dealing with crimes in action and critical incidents.

Altia, backed by NorthEdge, is a provider of intelligence and investigation software for government departments and law enforcement agencies across 18 countries, including the UK, US, Canada and Australia, which saw the business awarded a Queen’s Award in Enterprise for International Trade in 2021. The business, which is based in Nottingham and Glasgow, supports police forces and investigation teams to automate processes using technology – reducing time and money spent on investigations and improving prosecution rates.

Badger Software develops covert and overt solutions for UK and international law enforcement, as well as the commercial sector. The business’ core proposition, CLIO (Central Logging of Intelligence Operations), provides software for managing critical incidents and civil emergencies,  as well as covert operations, and was jointly developed with the UK police and emergency services.

As part of the  acquisition, Badger Software founder and MD, Rob Brigham, will join Altia as Head of Crime in Action Solutions. Rob Sinclair, CEO of Altia, said: “Rob’s extensive experience is a huge asset to Altia, and being able to include a crimes in action solution in our existing product offering is a great addition. I’m delighted to have Rob join our growing team, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Rob Brigham added: “We are incredibly proud of what we have built here at Badger Software, in  particular the CLIO software and the support that we receive from our loyal  customers. Joining the Altia group adds significantly to our capability and provides a fantastic opportunity to grow, not just within the United Kingdom but also overseas.”
