Work has begun on a 4,000 sqft industrial unit that will become the new home to Securi-Guard’s Fire and Security ‘Systems’ Division. The unit is one of 22 that city planners have given developers permission to build on the edge of the existing business park at Darklake View in Estover, which has been home to Securi-Guard for more than 30 years.
The entire development will cover a 1.3 hectare site on council owned land that partly lies on Securi-Guard’s headquarters and will enable the company to give a dedicated space to its highly regarded fire and security operation.
Scott Boyd, Managing Director (Fire and Security), said the start of the build process marked the culmination of months of planning and was evidence of the recent rapid growth in the company’s fire and security services.
“It has been a tremendously exciting period for our fire and security division and with further development planned, we needed to find a dedicated space for the team and their equipment to fully realise those ambitions,” said Scott.
The new unit will enable the company to provide dedicated office space for a team of twelve and storage facilities for the equipment used by the 15-strong team of service and installation engineers working in the field.
Existing office space vacated by the fire and security division will be utilised by admin staff, as well as the guarding team, personnel and for health and safety training.
