The Eaton Scantronic Kit-80HE-RKP is a wireless burglar alarm system that includes a keypad, a 40-zone control panel that can be expanded to 80 zones, three pet-tolerant wireless PIR detectors, a slimline door contact and five proximity tags. The system conforms to EN50131 grade 2.
Hardware
The 80-HE Panel is approximately 37.4 x 24 x 90 mm and 1.9kg. It has four mounting holes and a top central keyhole slot for initial positioning. Three holes near the centre allow for cable entry.
The KEY-2R-KPZ keypad is 12.8 x 12.8 x 3.6 cm with multiple mounting holes including a central break-off point for tamper detection. It is powered by 3 AA batteries with a life calculated as 18 to 24 months, but it is advised that they are changed every year.
The DET-2R-PIR detectors are 11.6 x 5.6 x 5.8 cm and have multiple drill-through mounting hols including anti-tamper points. The rear panel allows for wall or corner mounting. They are powered by two AA 1.5v batteries with an expected life of 5-years assuming 160 activations per day with the LED active.
The DET-2R-DC slimline door contact is 10.4 x 2 x 2.4 cm. It is powered by a single CR2 3v battery. Typical life expected to be three years based on 100 activations per day and LED enabled.
Getting started
The plastic control panel enclosure has a removable cover held in place by two captive crosshead screws at the top.
A three-pole terminal block in the base of the panel is used to wire the panel from a suitable mains point. This block includes a 20mm 250mA fuse and the output then feeds directly into the mains transformer primary. The secondary is then fed onto the pcb which occupies the top section of the panel. Alongside the transformer is space for a 12v 7Ah backup battery, which can be secured in place using a supplied tie-wrap.
The PCB is well laid out with its 10 wired inputs at the bottom of the board to the right of the RJ45 network connector. To the left are the optional sounder and power connections. Above that are the two relay output connections, these are fed from mechanical relays with both normally open and closed contacts available.
The panel initially has 30 wireless zones, 10 wired zones, and 3 outputs available.
A tamper switch assembly is supplied with the component pack, and this can be slid into a base aperture to provide detection of both cover removal and the unit’s removal from the wall.
Optional Wi-Fi and cellular communications modules are available for remote connectivity if a local network connection is not available.
The KEY-2R-KPZ keypad has two lower screws holding the top cover in place, once removed the plastic insulator can be removed from the battery terminals to power the board. A variety of fixing holes are available with a central break-off tab for tamper detection.
