The TVT TD-9545C4H is an IP67 turret IP camera with 24-hour colour performance and intelligent analytics alarm handling. It has dimensions of approximately 112mm (Ø) x 100 mm (h) and weighs 622g. TVT is a relatively new company based in Shenzhen, China, producing a range of CCTV imaging, recording and video management products.
Getting started
The camera is a conventional turret style with four fixing points for the base. A single Allen screw secures the upper and lower covers and once released allows the base to be removed for wall or ceiling fixing and / or the central “eyeball” section to be correctly positioned for the required field of view. A notch in the base allows the cable to be routed for surface feeds. Various wall, pole, and adaptor mounting options are available and their part numbers are included on the supplied specification sheet.
A 110-page manual is available through the TVT website that covers the three main camera series that TVT produce. The website also gives access to IP Tool software that can be used to discover the camera and provide initial configuration assistance.
Connections are through a single multicore cable feeding out into five connectors providing for Network (PoE) – RJ45, 12-volt power – 5.5mm power jack, Microphone in – 3.5mm jack, Audio out – 3.5mm jack, Alarm – 4-way removeable screw terminal block (Alarm Common, Alarm Open, Alarm In, Alarm Ground).
The default webserver auto-logout time is 5-minutes, but this can be changed in seconds from 1/2 minute to an hour (30 – 3600s).
Operation
With PoE or separate power connected the camera initialises with a PoE demand of around 0.6 to 0.8w until operational with a figure around 3w without illumination. This rises to around 6w with full illumination.
An untethered cover with two captive crosshead screws gives access to the MicroSD card slot (up to 1TB) and the camera reset button.
The camera did not have DHCP enabled by default, so a basic network scan won’t find it. It uses its manual IP address of 192.168.226.201. The Quick Start guide advises to “Get the IP-Tool from the supplier” but there is no download link offered but it can be found on the TVT website. Connecting to the camera using a PC suitably configured for this subnet allows access to the camera’s webserver, from where the camera’s configuration can be changed along with the IP addressing.
At first connection the camera presents some configuration options including acceptance of a Privacy statement, followed by Language selection, Region and Time and date format. Next is the requirement to enter a new strong password, with an optional security question for password recovery if required. This screen also has a tick box for activating ONVIF use. You are then given the option to select either Face event or Smart event use. The login screen is then presented to access the camera’s functionality.
Once logged in, the browser display shows the camera image in the main window with function tabs along the top ribbon for Live, Config, Search, and Statistics, then at the bottom are icons at the left for image sizing and to the right for Stop / Start live view, Alarm Out, Audio Alarm, Enable Audio, Snapshot, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Video Metadata, and Rule Info.
The camera has three streams available, the main stream can be set from 1920 x 1080 up to 2688 x 1520 in 3 steps, the sub-stream from 640 x 360 to 1920 x 1080 in 4 steps, and the third stream from 352 x 288 to 1280 x 720 in 6 steps. All streams can be H.264 or H.265 encoded including enhanced versions, the sub and third stream also support MJPEG.
