Meet the NSI installer – Sam Yaffie

by Andy Clutton

Sam Yaffie looks after business development for Antron Security in Hertfordshire.

What’s your company all about and what makes it stand out?

At Antron, we design, install, integrate and maintain security systems that genuinely work in the real world. With over 35 years of delivery behind us, we’re not about off-the-shelf answers or ticking boxes. We deliver fully integrated access control, CCTV, entryphone, mobile credentials, lift destination control and speedlane solutions, supported by intruder alarms, remote surveillance, system monitoring and purpose-built control rooms.

For our contract customers, we provide 24/7 rapid response and ongoing maintenance to ensure systems perform exactly as intended throughout their lifecycle. We take the time to understand how a building is used, who moves through it and what really matters to the client from early-stage research, analysis, detailed planning, visualisation and strategy, through to intuitive user-experience applications. Our strength is combining technical depth with practical delivery, compliant robust systems that operate seamlessly in the background and are never over-engineered for the sake of it.

What kind of projects do you most enjoy working on?

Multi-tenanted commercial buildings. They’re complex, fast-moving environments with lots of stakeholders involved, landlords, managing agents, tenants, consultants and contractors. No two days look the same and no two buildings operate the same way. That challenge, combined with the pace and variety of people and places, is where we do our best work.

Which technologies or products are exciting you right now?

Integration is the big one – bringing multiple systems together into a single, cohesive building experience. Cloud platforms, unified access control and true one-card solutions using physical cards, QR codes or virtual credentials. Too often buildings are sold the idea of a “one-card solution” that doesn’t quite work in practice. We’re well positioned to step in, even late in a project, and make those systems actually deliver what was promised.

How does NSI certification make a difference to your business?

NSI certification means taking life safety seriously. It brings accountability, structure and discipline to everything we do. Procedures are followed, systems are properly tested and responsibility is clear. At Antron, we pride ourselves on what we call the AAHs (Accountability, Accuracy and Honesty). NSI underpins that culture and keeps standards where they should be.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Delivering projects properly end to end. From initial design and tender, through winning the work, installation, completion and handover. Knowing the client is genuinely satisfied at the end of it. We’ve never missed practical completion in 36 years and that consistency is something we’re extremely proud of.
