Meet the NSI installer – Adam Smith

by Andy Clutton

We recently spoke to Adam Smith, Managing Director at Secure Tech Systems in Maidstone, Kent to find out more about life in the security business

What are your company’s main business activities?

At Secure Tech Systems we provide all type of electronic security systems. We specialise in commercial CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and intercom system integrations. We have also just increased our scope to electronic gates.

What emerging technologies do you see shaping the future of the industry?

We seem to be discussing biometric authentication more than ever with our commercial customers. Developments with AI of course continue to emerge, especially in camera technology, with the use of data insights. The use of IOT devices and cloud-based solutions are becoming more popular as our customers start to trust the technology. The enablement of 5G in providing real time data transmission will also play a pivotal role and of course 6G will provide further enhancements.

How will you adapt and stay ahead?

Continually working with our suppliers to understand the latest innovations and staying close to our customers’ requirements, so that we can adapt at the right time.

At STS we work in partnership with our customers, we aren’t simply an installer. We think long term with any new installation or upgrade and provide scalable systems that can grow as our customers businesses expand.

Internally we’re also aware of how the use of AI can improve our processes, helping us to stay ahead in terms of customer experience and indeed satisfaction.

In what ways does NSI Certification differentiate your company from competitors and enhance your credibility within the industry?

NSI accreditation is the most widely recognised mark of approval in our industry. Being approved members provides evidence that we are professional, trustworthy and fully competent in what we say and do.

What has been one of the best business decisions you have ever made?

After working in the industry for 16 years, starting my own business in the first place was the best business decision I have ever made!

It gives me the freedom and flexibility to choose products and design systems, in a cost effective and efficient way. I get immense satisfaction from providing our customers with top level customer service at a fair and reasonable price. On top of this it gives me the flexibility I need to support my wife in raising our young family.
