Johnson Controls has introduced the Johnson Controls Digital Enrollment mobile application for auto-addressing fire detection and alarm devices. By scanning and downloading data via a QR code located on each addressable device, the app provides an addressing solution that helps eliminate errors with no special tools required.
The app lets users install and configure addressable fire detection devices like point detectors, notification devices, call points and ancillaries offered under the Johnson Controls brands, including FireClass and Zettler.
“Today’s busy, understaffed service and maintenance teams need modern user-friendly tools to increase efficiencies wherever possible,” said Martin Schulte-Frankenfeld, senior director of product management, fire detection at Johnson Controls. “The Digital Enrollment app gives teams a tool that makes fire detection system installation and configuration quicker, easier and more reliable than previous methods, right from their smartphones or tablets.”
The Digital Enrollment app gives users two workflow options for completing a new fire alarm system installation. The recommended option is to create a device list on the mobile app and sync it using the app’s panel configuration tool. Alternately, installers can download the device list from the configuration tool and sync that list with the serial numbers using the mobile app.
Martin Schulte-Frankenfeld continues: “This app is an extremely convenient tool for installers who configure fire alarm systems in buildings like hospitals, schools, campuses, offices and more. And since it transfers device data quickly and accurately, building operators and facility managers can do their job with more confidence.”
Each device’s QR code contains a serial number, SKU (part number) code, model number and manufacturing date. These also provide access to product-specific data such as tech pubs, certificates, pricing and ordering info. In addition to new system installations, the Digital Enrollment app and QR code make it easier to reconcile the replacement of faulty or dirty devices.
