Dominic Jones, Marketing Manager Axis Northern Europe reveals how IFSEC 2017 was a success for Axis
IFSEC was hugely busy this year – it’s one of the most important events for Axis and our partners, and as usual, was a resounding success. One of the most popular technologies we demonstrated was our radar detection system. We designed it to work collaboratively with existing surveillance solutions in outdoor areas to help provide high-end perimeter security. The system not only decreases false alarms, but comes at a far lower price point than comparable solutions. In addition, we also showcased our access control integration with HID Global and SimonsVoss – allowing for entry credentials through mobile devices.
We saw a number of valuable interactions from visitors to our stand, and hosted a large selection of popular seminars. Andy Martin, Axis’ retail expert, spoke around the future of retail, for example. He looked at how IP technology can assist with loss prevention strategies and the mitigation of organised retail crime, providing insights on customers to boost marketing and operational efficiencies. Steven Kenny, Business Development Manager for Axis’ Architect & Engineering Program, tackled one of the key challenges within the industry at the moment – cybersecurity. He brought a number of insights to the table on why collaboration is essential to ensure adequate security – both physical and cyber.
The world we’re operating in is shifting at a rapid pace, we’ve continually innovated for the last 20 years, we are now integrating IoT solutions within surveillance cameras, with audio technology in retail, and now in access control solutions. Going forward, we predict one of the big challenges facing our industry assuring cybersecurity and meeting GDPR compliance. As demonstrated at IFSEC this year, through collaboration with our network of partners these challenges can effectively be met.
