Bristol Bears training ground in safe hands

by Andy Clutton

Bristol Bears rugby union club has worked with Bristol-based Astra Security to make sure that its High Performance Training Centre, which opened last August, is secure thanks to high definition CCTV systems, which cover all external areas of the buildings and grounds.

The new system provides peace of mind in terms of security for staff, players and visitors and also forms part of the club’s control of the spread of COVID 19, through the installation of a video-intercom barrier and door system. This will monitor and control the number of people entering the building helping those on site to adhere to social distancing guidelines, whilst at the same time being able to ensure that only the right people are on site at the right time.

Astra has also installed a thermal technology terminal, which can test an individual’s body temperature quickly and efficiently as they enter.  The system can also detect if the user is wearing a mask, sending an immediate warning message to those who are not, reminding them to put one on.

Mark Tainton, CEO at Bristol Bears, said: “Keeping our players, staff and visitors as safe as possible is our highest priority and with the added complication of the pandemic, knowing we have the latest in camera technology provides reassurance.”

Paul Beet, Managing Director at Astra Security added: “We’re proud to be working with Bristol Bears rugby and we look forward to a long-term partnership.”
