The Skills for Security Careers Fair 2026 will bring together employers, industry brands and career seekers to address the ongoing shortage of skilled professionals in the fire and security sector.
The fair will take place onThursday 26 March 2026, from 9.30am to 1.30pm at Birmingham City Football Club. Building on the success of last year’s launch event, it offers individuals considering a career in fire and security a focused space to explore career pathways, apprenticeships, and training opportunities.
The event comes at a time when the sector continues to face well-documented skills shortages, with many employers reporting difficulties in recruiting and retaining trained engineers, installers and technicians. By connecting employers directly with potential entrants, the Careers Fair aims to support long-term workforce planning and raise awareness of the varied career opportunities available across the industry.
David Scott, managing director of Skills for Security said: “The feedback from last year’s inaugural Careers Fair showed just how valuable it is for the industry to come together in person to discuss skills, training and entry routes. There is a real need to attract new talent into fire and security and to help individuals see and understand the rewarding long-term career paths our sector offers.”
The Careers Fair, aimed at school and college students, as well as those looking for employment in the West Midlands, will give employers a direct opportunity to engage with individuals interested in apprenticeships. This is whilst providing attendees with practical information on qualifications, training routes and career progression.
Industry partners will be on hand to discuss technology development and sector events, whilst the Skills for Security team will be sharing tips on funding, recruitment support and CV building, making it a one-stop forum for workforce development.
