Meet the NSI installer – Nick Reid

by Andy Clutton

Nick Reid is the MD at Securitatem Installations based in Harrietsham, Kent.

What are your company’s main business activities?

Securitatem Installations was established in 2012. We are specialists in designing and maintaining bespoke intruder alarms, CCTV and access control systems -securing homes, businesses, and complex properties with multi-layered solutions.

What emerging technologies do you see shaping the future of the industry and how is your company adapting to stay ahead?

We see several emerging technologies shaping the future of the security systems industry. Artificial intelligence and advanced video analytics are already transforming how surveillance is used, allowing for smarter detection, fewer false alarms, and proactive threat prevention. The growth of cloud-based solutions and IoT integration is enabling more flexible, scalable, and connected systems, while also raising the importance of robust cybersecurity to protect against digital threats. Biometric access control and advanced authentication methods are becoming standard, and developments in 5G and edge computing are opening the door to real-time monitoring and faster, more reliable responses. At the same time, sustainability and energy efficiency are influencing the design and deployment of security systems.

To stay ahead, our company is actively investing in these areas—enhancing our AI capabilities, strengthening cyber protection within our solutions, and ensuring our systems are adaptable, secure, and future-ready.

We are also dedicating significant resources to research and development, investing time in understanding new technologies and how best to integrate them into solutions that meet the changing needs of our customers.

In what ways does NSI certification differentiate your company from competitors and enhance your credibility within the industry?

NSI certification sets our company apart by providing independent assurance that our systems, processes, and installations meet the highest industry standards for quality and compliance. It demonstrates to clients that we have undergone rigorous audits covering everything from staff training and technical competence to health and safety and customer service. This not only differentiates us from competitors who may not hold such accreditation but also gives customers confidence that they are working with a trusted, reliable provider. Within the industry, NSI certification enhances our credibility by showing our commitment to best practice and continuous improvement, helping us build stronger relationships with clients, insurers, and regulatory bodies alike.

What do you find most rewarding about working in the security industry?

What I find most rewarding about working in the security industry is knowing that the solutions we provide have a direct and meaningful impact on people’s safety, peace of mind, and ability to protect what matters most to them. Every project, whether it’s securing a family home, a business, or a large-scale facility, brings a sense of purpose because we’re helping to reduce risk and create safer environments, making a real difference to client’s lives.

Can you share a memorable success story or customer testimonial that highlights the impact of your company’s services on enhancing safety and security?

We were recently approached to take over and upgrade a school intruder alarm system. We worked closely with them to ensure the solution met their evolving needs and budget and received highly positive feedback.

The headteacher at the Kent school said: “The highly professional team at Securitatem Installations have recently taken over and upgraded the school alarm system. They provided a cost-effective solution to not only meet our requirements, but also our budget. The improved technology has enabled both myself, as headteacher, and the caretaker to have a complete overview of who is coming in and out of the school (outside of school hours) as well as the ability to arm and disarm remotely, as needed. Within weeks of the installation, this proved invaluable following an issue with one of the contract cleaners over a weekend.  The on-call team swiftly helped resolve the problems that had arisen and worked with us remotely to ensure the school site was secure, all without the need for anyone to attend site – a huge improvement on the previous alarm system and considerably safer and more convenient for the members of staff involved. I have been extremely impressed with the service that has been received, and I cannot recommend Securitatem Installations enough.”
